Our Fall Fashion Picks

I have to admit it, I’ve had so much fun playing with the girls’ clothes and coming up with different outfits, mixing different pieces and making sure they are stocked up for the cold months ahead. I use to love doing this with my own wardrobe, buying new pieces and adding it to an outfit, feeling so excited for the day I get to take it out and wear it. And while the act has kinda changed, the feeling is still the same: I get so excited to see the girls in a new piece I got for them.

Sweater Dresses and Denim

Sweater dresses are one of my favorites during fall and winter for obvious reasons. It’s a great way to dress up while keeping warm and cozy (especially the kids). Madison fell head over heels for this sweet minnie mouse sweater dress with a full skirt bottom from Baby Gap. She has 3 of these for the seasons holiday parties coming up all from Baby gap (they have a really great selection)

Here are some small shop favorites of mine for basics and some cozy adorable dresses to check out:

I got the girls each a pair of dark denim jeans from H+M and a matching denim jacket (omg, it’s too cute). I don’t think I need to go into the importance and necessity of jeans but I did also get a jegging-like pair for Mila from Carters for everyday. Although this denim is very stretchy, soft and comfortable, with her crawling everywhere now denim doesn’t always give the flexibility she needs. So I have a comfier alternate pair for her everyday adventures. Madison received her first pair of jeans from seven for all mankind, which are so comfy and stretchy and a perfect pair of pants for everyday play as they allow a lot of movement and stretch.

Basic Tops

Zara kids is an absolute favorite of mine, not only for the amazingly affordable price but the selection is always awesome as is the quality. (it’s made in Portugal which is also cool to know since we are Portuguese and I know how amazing the quality of clothes/fabrics/jewelry is in Portugal) I recently bought Mila several basic long sleeve, short sleeve and sweaters from there, I don’t know if it was my lucky day or if it was a sale I didn’t hear about but all the tops and cotton pants were all $6-$10! So we loaded up on some essential, everyday pieces. Comfy for play dates or stepping out. Basic tops can be layered under cardigans, vests, sweaters, paired with skirts, jeans or leggings making more outfits and saving you more money. It’s all about the basic pieces in my closet!

It may just be my mom side talking, but Leggings = life! Stretcy, comfy, simple, interchangable! What’s there not to love, and when it comes to days at home; it’s what we live in! Black, grey’s and nudes are staples when putting the girl’s capsule closest together, they will go with any and everything and I am able to dress them up with a blouse or dress them down with a tee. H&M has some of the best pants (jeans and leggings) for kids and I’m hooked on their clothes for littles. I got Madison some amazing long sleeved basic shirts from there, made from a stretchy cotton and spandex blend allowing breath-ability and flexibility for active littles, perfect for out-all-day shopping days or visiting friends and family. I found the sweetest white linen ruffled blouse for a nice night out or event.

These soy made nude leggings and cream collared top are from ethical clothing company Plaid and Paisley Littles based out of Vancouver. (small shop option, pictured above.) They are perfect examples of pieces you can build a wardrobe around – neutral colors, great make and comfortable fit. I bought the girls their nude and cream basic tanks over the summer and they wore them almost every day, they are the perfect closet staple as they can be worn on their own in warm weather or layered under any other top when needed. I’ll be featuring this amazing brand in my “shopping small” section next month!  www.plaidandpaisleylittles.com

Occasion Dresses

The girls have been gifted some beautiful dresses which as created a pretty impressive collection of formal dresses. (I’m definitely jealous) But I also like to be able to buy them a dress when I see one I love too. I try not to go to crazy over buying dresses but admittedly, I bought a lot more this past summer than I had planned. There are so many lovely shops bringing classic and trendy styles to kids clothing. I couldn’t resist. I found myself in the middle of a major pinafore obsession too!
